The Haverford Township Police Department announced the sudden death of Sgt. Kevin Redding in a Facebook post on Monday night.

Redding was a 27-year-veteran of the department and served in the patrol division.

Brookline Fire Company paid tribute to him Tuesday morning by assembling an arch with an American flag.

Meanwhile, over 300 condolences were left under the department's post as of Tuesday morning.

"Wow. Life can be so unkind…survives a 27-year career as an officer, only to lose his life to COVID. Tragic. Thank you for your service, Sir," one user commented.

"So sorry to hear going to miss him a lot. Prayers for his family. He was an awesome guy," another user wrote.

It was unclear whether Redding had been vaccinated or if he had any underlying medical conditions.
